Gday Deb,

I'm back over in the States, working again on my old yacht 'Mine Games' and looking at a few different options. I have been offered to 2nd mate the launch crew of the new 196ft Trinity to potentialy show at centre stage again at the Ft Lauderdale show.....as if there arent any more delays.. So im not sure what my options are to complete this course. I guess i would have to come home at some point throughout the year. Its crazy but also pretty cool to walk back into this yachty crazy place and fall back in. Only here 1 day and find work and job offers. worked miami boat show covering crew days off , here now three weeks and today played a round of golf with my captain at a private course driving around his jag etc etc.....hahha its fun being back in the fast lane. Will get you some cool pics. Hope all is well in Newport.

Hi all, :]
i'm 16 and after a really rough year in 09
i went on a 10 day youth development course aboard the S.T.S Spirit of New Zealand, its a 148' Barkentine (three masted tall-ship)and won the S.T.I Sail Traning organisation of the year . the course was absolutely amazing. =] it turned my life around and i now want to pursue a career at sea. after great thought i've decided on super Yachts.
After this year at school i going to try for a cadet-ship hopefully aboard the spirit and work towards my Yachting masters. at school i will be taking, Catering and Hospitality, Carpentry/Design, Geography. ontop of Science math and English. I speak a little French, am a keen horse rider (event), love water sports, sailing, and helping people. am friendly and love working as well as keeping myself busy.
im pretty shore i have the basics covered but is there anything else i might need to get or anything else that would help out in the long run?

Hi there,

I'm an Airforce pilot and have flown helicopters for the past 10 years. Anyone know's if there is a need for helicopter pilots in this industry? I've always been very interested in working on yachts and noticed quite a few have helicopter decks on them.

It's hard to find any information on flying helo's in this industry so any help would be highly appreciated!

OMG, you're kidding me! I want to travel so bad a trying to find a job that will let me do so. I was looking into being a flight attendant, but decided against it. Then I came across working in a crew on a yacht and it seems so great! I want to convince my boyfriend to do it with me. What are the chances of us being put on a crew together?!?!? Congrats to you! almost seems too good to be true!

Hey Rochelle. Wow, congratulations! I'm so jelous. How in world did you manage to get that job? I am a young Australian girl who, well..to be honest wants your job! Or one similar based or passing through the South of France. If I do the STW 95 course before I leave Aus, what is the next step? Must I find my own work by walking the docks of Atebes? Is there any further training you reccoment before I depart as I have 5star hospitaly training but no deck/boating experience (yet)? Thankyou! Hope your doing well and loveing it.

WOW! You lucky girl! How did you start loking for work? Walking around the docks?
I am a 19year old Aussie girl who spent 1 1/2 months in the French Riveara (Mainly St Maxime, Frejus, St Raphael + Nice etc) I fell inlove with France it is gorgeous and so are the people. I would absolutley love to do what exactly what you did. Any tips? I am alittle stuck on what to do.
Do you have the STCW 95 training? Did you look at a website for jobs? Did you go through an agency/company? Or just talk to people and find your own work freelancing?
I have worked at a Hyatt Resort so I have bar and hospitlity training also. Does this help? Also, Is this a seasonal job only? For example: Jobs only available between September to March, or are there jobs all year round? Sorry, so many questions. Thank you so much. Peta
