        www.yachtpegasus.com and take a look.

There is the Purser and the 4 Stews on the inside, I'm the 2nd Stew, while on charter I'll help the chef by cooking the crew meals..We are leaving Fort Lauderdale on sunday dec 9th headed for St Martin, our first charter starts boxing day for 2 weeks then the boss is on board for ??..After the winter season we head over to the Med for the summer and already have a charter booked for April in the Med..but as you all know a lot can happen between seasons when it comes to yachts, anyway Im like a pig in shit and lovin it..

For those of you down in the Caribbean look out for Pegasus and lets hook up for a drink...

I hope you're all havn fun, safe sailing, cruising, and safe lovin' on the high seas!!!...

      Hi Everyone,

This is my new baby the Thalia. After an hour in Antibes I was offered the job as engineer on this 160 foot ketch. I told them I dont come without Laura so after checking out her resume they said no worries she can come to, Oh and we get our own luxury cabin with Ensuite and shower! How muc do i get paid i hear you ask?? Me 5000 Euro a month, Laura 2500 Euro a month all tax free. thats aout 14000 Oz between us all expenses paid. The funny thing is, I was just sitting in the pub meant to be having a weeks holiday!!! I ran into my new skipper later again that day and he asked me to come up to Holland to help finish the refit as soon as possible, on the proviso that I was back in Nice to meet Laura next week... Ok I say, 10 minutes later I am on my way to the airport with the Skipper (David) and arrive in Amsterdam a few hours later!!! When did this all ahppem?? Yesterday afternoon, I arrived at my new apartment late last nite and have just finished my first day as Cheif Engineer on Thalia. How things change in the space of an hour or two. As a reward for my service David has paid for my flight back to Nice to meet Laura, then a leisurly TGV ride to Paris for a romantic two nights and then through the Tulip fields to Holland. David said he wanted to pay us to have a good time because he appreciates the service we are doing for him!!! Welcome to the SuperYacht industry.

I dont know if they recruit from Cape Town, or do I have to be in Miami or Europe?? Please can you reply with the name of any agencies you know of who I can send my C.V to?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to the Superyacht Crew Academy blog, and thanks for your posting. Ideally to maximise your opportunities of being placed as a crew person, it is best to be available in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami allowing you to go for interviews face to face. You have such great experience on boats you should use it! You can visit

Hi Chris and Deb and Club Sail Superyacht Crew Academy team!! I hope you are all well and things are good.

Sorry about the long time in replying, as I suspect you guessed I was on a boat only days after receiving the reference and since then its been go go go!! I am now employed as 1st (of three!) deckhands on M/Y Bossy Boots (what a name!) a 45 metre private yacht registered in the Caymans but traveling the world!

They flew me from Antibes to Ft Lauderdale where I met the boat and from there its been up to Savannah for a week in a yard, up to Nantucket and then on to the current location, Newport, RI.

The boat plans to head up to New York, Novia Scotia, then the St Lawrence seaway (Canada) for a month before heading back down the coast for the beginning of the Carribean season! How exciting is this!!!! The boat's owned by Texan oil tycoons so its a bit like watching 'Dynasty'!! I look forward to hearing from you all,

      Kind Regards

To my beloved friends, I got a job aboard the most amazing boat today its called Mia Elise, have a look at the website
www.miaelise.com  . I have been in Florida for one week having an absolute ball and doing some day work cleaning boats, the women over here are amazing and love aussie blokes. The boat is a 180 foot private charter boat with 12 crew. we go to the bahamas in 5 days for the season then to the med for their summer. It pays 3000 US per month with around 1000 tips per week and 10 000 bonus at the end of every charter season. If i can not save some serious money there is something wrong. I will be with the boat for around 3 years as I get 4 weeks holidays with two return airfares to Australia per year. Paul thank you very much for the reference, it must have been good. hope all is well at the hotel and i will write personal emails when i get some more time. Be good and i will speak to you all very shortly.

      Hi SCA,

Great to see you are spreading the word about superyachting, i couldn't recommend a better life for those who want to travel and see exciting places all while earning fantastic money!

I'm now on a 60 meter Lurssen called Linda Lou and we're currently cruising the Croatian coastline which is absolutely gorgeous. Last port of call was Venice where we had 3 days to ourselves to explore the beautiful city and it's canals.
We have followed the coastline down pretty much all the way from France, Monaco, Italy, Sicily and now Croatia.
At the end of the season we are returning to Barcelona for a refit, which is an amazing hub to fly all over Europe for weekends away.

I'll be returning to Aus in October, the owner has granted me a $1000 flight allowance to see my family back home.
Unfortunately it'll only be for 2 weeks as i've got another holiday secretly planned for my girlfriend and I!

I've made a web page of all the crew photos we take everywhere we go.

      >>>>>>   http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/M.Y.Linda.Lou  <<<<<<

You are welcome to have a look and show some of them in your seminar if you wish.
The helicopter shoot in St. Maarten, that was me taking the photos!
Best day of my life! The helicopter was no bigger than a coffee table!
Also some pretty crazy ones of a half-way party we had.
9 days at sea is a good enough excuse to have a fancy dress party if you ask me!

Take care and pls say Hi to Chris & Deb for me,

      Byron.

It's all about your enthusiasm and attitude towards people and your job, for instance, either as a stewardess (
http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/stewardess_training_certification_superyacht.html ) or entry level into working above deck as a deckhand ( http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/superyacht_deckhand.html ).

      Hello from the French Riviera!!

Well we've had a lovely break between seasons. Managed to get to Spain, Sweden, Italy and around the south of France. The med cruising season has swung into action and as luck would have it, Keith and I have jobs!

Things are going great. Turns out Keith is First mate/chief officer on a 50m motor boat "Netanya 7" which is fantastic. I'm 3rd stew of 6 on a 64m motor boat "White Rose of Drachs". We're both based in Monaco and cruise around the riviera between Monaco and St Tropez. Keith's boat was anchored beside mine in Cannes for the Bastille day fireworks which was really awesome, although we only got to wave to each other from the decks which was a bit heartbreaking. But... looking at the bigger picture in three months time we will be reaping the rewards of our sacrifices today and that's keeping us going.

Hoping to be home in November sometime for a between season break and a family wedding in Indo. Getting a little homesick.

Hope everyone is well, drop me a line!

      HELLO FROM AFAR

Hello Debbie, and all at Club Sail,

Great to hear from you, so sorry i haven't replied for such a long time, we've just got back into port from Corsica and Sardinia, aswell as some of the french riveira. St Tropez was a great party town and bonnafacio was just heaven.

I hope its not too late, but here's a few details for the article anyway,

I joined the M.Y 'Moon Peace' around three months ago, after searching around Antibes for a few weeks. I was passed the phone number of the captain by a friend I'd met (also a captain) Spoke to the manager of the vessel, had an interview for about 15mins and joined the boat that afternoon.

The position was for engineer and the vessel is a Benetti, 32 meters, launched in 1971!!
Its very old but has classic lines. From an engineering point of view its constant work!
With my experience i also help out alot on deck (varnishing, painting, wash-downs, etc)

Can't say too much about the owner but he is a nice guy, single, American living in Moscow.
The vessel will go to Moscow at the end of the year and a new 45 meter will be purchased, on which i have been offered position as Chief Engineer.

Haven't got any photo's on hand, but promise to send some soon.
The season is starting to die off, so i will get more time ashore to email and drink and chase french skirts!

Hope all is well back at Club Sail, hello to Chris, Jen, Jay and all the others.
See you for my next Yachtmasters.
      Byron.

P.S. The course prices over here are ridiculous, 1200 euro for STCW-95!!!

So you'll probably hear from me again, maybe next summer when i get my finances sorted because i would like to do another course, perhaps inshore skipper.

The ocean passages we did were awesome, Aden to Male (Maldives) was a bit long, but i kept my sanity intact... and the passage from male to langkawi (malaysia) was pretty enjoyable.. i think the dolphins, whales and sharks we saw just add to that.

So yeah, i'm pretty much hooked.

Thanks for the updates on your courses, and i'll be in contact again one day.

Fantastic to hear from you. The Club Sail team is so happy for you and so glad things have worked out well for you, however you very much deserve it. We do appreciate you keeping us up to date with your adventures!

Look forward to seeing you for the Master of Yachts course. Keep your Log book up to date, get a letter from the skipper confirming sea time, you only really need dates you worked on the vessel and where you went. If you could get a copy of the ships papers that would also be great. You can read all about it on the website link http://www.superyacht-crew-academy.com/Yachtmaster_Offshore_course.html...

We have a Memorandum of Understanding with NSW Maritime. Which sates, holders of Club Sails MOY 200 tons offshore can apply for a Master 5 ticket, which will be handy when you come back to Australia. Maritime are very tuf on proof of sea time however.

        See you soon

      Hi all!

Well it looks like I have a job for Christmas. I start working tomorrow on M/Y Dream Seeker. I went for the job last night and then had another interview today with someone else but I chose Dream Seeker.

This is what I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE about this industry. One minute you have nothing and are out drinking too much with all the other yachties (boo hoo – terrible life) and the next you have day work and 2 jobs being offered! It’s really great. I am so stoked. I’m so ready to get back into it but more importantly I’m just ready to get out there and meet some more people. I think we are heading to the Bahamas. I start tomorrow but we don’t leave Fort Lauderdale until Saturday. I spoke to the 1st Mate on Amber’s boat tonight and I’m actually on his old boat. How is that! Also, we are going to be in the same place in a few days. Will be great!! Amber is doing so well. I worked with her today and was so proud. She is settling in to everything brilliantly.

I will keep you all posted. This was just a quick update to ‘advise’ that I am temporarily employed.

We will have Internet on the boat but I won’t be able to receive phone calls (excluding Skype) so I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. I really can’t believe that it’s that time of year already. It seems like only the other day I was watching the kids open all their presents. That is the best part of the year.

Lots and lots and lots of love,

I found all the staff were excellent, very professional, patient and tolerant with us “mature” learners, handled the innumerable questions professionally and imparted their knowledge with skill. Most importantly, all were friendly and nice people. In particular Craig and Jezz who were most patient and also spent their own time helping those that stayed overnight to study. Andrew was great and I think he would remain calm in any situation. Yourself who made the non practical parts of the STCW95 course interesting and of course Leo who made the breathing apparatus and fire fighting practicals memorable. Can’t forget the administration staff who handled our phone calls and queries professionally and with great personality.

Wishing all the best for the future and thanks again. Will send photographs when the yacht is fully fitted out (the internals are still being installed) however here is a photo from the launch.

      Best Regards

        Hi Daniel,

Great news!! Congrats on the new position. Definitely will be a great year. Glad that you got into the engineering side of things.

Things are great in Sydney, and yes, we are absolutley busy! Lots of training this time of year. Chris and myself are actually in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of weeks @ IYT headquarters preparing for another great year.

Congratulations again, and hear from you soon.

      Gday Chris and Deb,
Hope all is well back in Oz. Beck and myself are still working on the 114 metre private yacht Le Grand Bleu, myself as Bosun and Beck as the Dive Instructor/Aqaurium Manager. Having a great time, currently in Panama waiting to go through the Canal then off to the States. We have sailed from Rio in Brazil, down to Patagonia, through the Magellan Straights, Beagle Channel, out around Cape Horn and then up the west coast of South America to Panama.
We take leave in April and are heading home for some RnR before rejoining the yacht back in the States then heading for, well........ who knows where next!!!!
Will keep in touch and look forward to seeing you guys again.
      Cheers
      Brendan and Beck
